Theme and variations: Custom and specially-made ENIGMA model cases

I'ts pretty hard to elaborate upon the Enigma model, considering that it's already a summing-up of the best of what we can do. Yet, human creativity is unlimited and we've had customers asking us to make special versions of our already very special case. All of these cases represent an expression of creativity in instrument case making that goes beyond the usual boundaries.

Since Musafia cases are made one-by-one to the customer’s exact specifications, they can be personalized in an infinite number of ways, to make them perfect for nearly everyone, both technically and aesthetically. The cost of a custom-made case is not that much more than that of one of our stock models, but when it matches your needs and personality better, then it's priceless.

If you would like to order a Musafia case, or just enjoy looking at them, we hope you will find these images interesting!

Janet McGehee Case, 2008.

The Enigma was made by reversing the color scheme (like in the blue Exercise of Style 2007, below) with the addition of a black treatment of the bow ribbons and bow cushions. Since this customer uses a Comford rest, we made space for it in the far right end of the case.

Teresa Costello Case, 2008.

This customer liked the Enigma design but preferred the materials and look of the Salvatore Accardo by Musafia. So Mr. Musafia made an Enigma Aureum with a blue leather, silk velvet and satin interior, using the wider (16mm vs. 11) "Accardo" burlwood trim to lighten the chromatic effect, counterbalancing the blue bow ribbons. This case is now in Ireland.

Brook Taube Case, 2007.

The squaring of a circle: that's a good way to define Mr. Taube's request. This customer wanted the elegance of the leather-lined Enigma Aureum with the comparatively light weight of the Enigma Leggero, but with waterproofing, Tropicalization, and the special touch offered of suede-like frame covering.

Ivo Stankov Case no. 1, 2007.

U.K. violinist Mr. Ivo Stankov ordered two Enigma cases, however each one on a different and unique color scheme. This all-black version is exceptional in it's class and simplicity.

Ivo Stankov Case no. 2, 2007.

The second Enigma case Mr. Stankov ordered was again in the name of simplicity, but this time on a green color theme.

English plaid Enigma case, 2007.

A Japanese customer who prefers to remain anonymous ordered this very special Enigma case through Cremona violin maker Massimo Negroni. Given the complexity of the interior design, to correctly line up the famous pattern in the silk satin material was a daunting challenge.

Exercise of style, 2007.

Mr. Musafia reversed the positioning of the patterned velvet with the monocolor velvet in this study. The result is very pleasing and was selected for appearance in the Giornale della Musica monthly.
